The feeling of relief.
growing up in scotland in the 1970s in scotland the anointed were few and far between, but we had one old dude in our cong who claimed to be one of the anointed.
in the days when it was taken seriously.. i'd be curious how you viewed them.
thing is, he wasn't an elder, or even a ministerial servant, just a plain old publisher.. but he was revered like he had a hotline to jesus.. the other week i was talking to a friend of similar age to me but who hung around the wt a lot longer than i did, and he just commented "oh him... he was a doddery old fool who used to just sit and piss himself.
To all those who knew of or actually know any "anointed"...
...were any of them Asian/Oriental or Hispanic/Latino? Someone from the African continent?
The only ones who I knew were older white Americans and one middle aged black American. All these from the 70's thru the 90's.
I was always perplexed because I always thought Jehovah would select those from "all nations", or at least those who could speak another language besides English.

hello forum.
my aunt, flyinghighnow, has passed away.
i don't know if you remember her, but she was a long time member.
Yes, she and I "registered" on this forum about the same time years and years ago. Her posts were a mainstay, balanced, humorous and inspiring. I am deeply saddened and sincerely desire that you will find some measure of comfort and strength during this difficult time.

i live in the usa.
is it perfect!
nope.
I'm currently residing in Japan (an expat from the USA).
Very safe, polite and proper, national healthcare, strict immigration control, technology savvy which is allowed accommodation by the essence of nature's power, from the vastness of Hokkaido to the tropics of Okinawa. Did you know that Japan is 70% mountains?
Been here for nearly two decades now and forever grateful that I made the international move. However, I do miss family and friends in the States. Give and take I suppose.

Alligator Wisdom (aka Brother NOT Exerting Vigorously)
i've been a member of this board three years longer than i was a jehovah's witness (eighteen vs fifteen).
i'm sure i've put in more hours here than i did in field service, it was more fun as well.
anybody else with similar numbers?.
I can mirror WingCommander's comment.
Lurked since 2000 and finally registered in 2002.
Was raised a JW and baptized in the mid 80's. PIMO for decades and decidedly became inactive and haven't been to a meeting since the summer of 2013.

we have recently been in asia on vacation, travelling to a number of countries in this part of the world.
whilst in thailand, my wife, totally pimo, wanted to go to the english speaking convention in bangkok.
although i haven't been active for a very long time, i went along with her.. the first thing that slightly surprised me was the attendance, well over 900. i hadn't expected that many but they were from all over the country, which is a pretty big place.
Plenty from Japan have headed off to Thailand, Taiwan, Cambodia... to serve in such areas because the territory in Japan is extremely apathetic. It also gives these 'pioneer/publishers' a break from the robotic clone-like conformity standards that the Japanese JWs are known for.

do people simply leave because the site has given them what they wanted?
are they now infrequent lurkers?.
did they go back to the watchtower?.
I miss the likes of Gary Buss, SirNose586, Crumpet, Refiners Fire, Englishman, Mary, Elsewhere, JGnat, Leolaia...
I can keep going.
These folks were instrumental in my breakaway and I miss their input.

Bansky's "Rage, Flower Thrower". Seemingly under the guise and posture of a violent act of protesting, but with the message of waging peace.
